Monotype Printmaking

Monotype is a direct printmaking method and is full of possibilities! This one-day workshop offers a monotype experience while exploring composition, color, and thematic context. Abstract and/or representational interpretations are explored through line, shape, and texture, painterly approaches, additive and subtractive techniques, and the use of stencils.
Choose from a variety of pre-cut plates of plexiglass. There are many sizes and shapes to choose from. This is your chance to go BIG!
Materials are provided but students are required to bring the following:
Snug-fitting rubber working gloves

Collagraph Printmaking

Collagraph is a print medium that combines collage with both relief and intaglio printing. It’s simple, direct and lots of fun! Using a variety of materials, recycled and found objects, glue, acrylic medium and etching tools, you will explore additive and subtractive plate making techniques and textures to create innovative compositions.
During the workshop participants will create a collagraph plate, learn how to ink the plates and print on different papers. Participants will learn the different inking options that can change the look of your print entirely, and the use of dry vs dampened paper. Multiple plate registration will also be addressed.
MATERIALS PROVIDED include inks, rags, solvents, newsprint, tools, and use of the press. It also includes enough printing paper for you to go away with 3 prints and 2 plates. More prints can be available for a nominal fee for the paper.
This class is for people 18 years and older. Safety waivers are required and will be provided.

PAPERMAKING WITH FAYE SILVIA
Join artist Faye Silvia for and collaborate with classmates to learn the process of papermaking. Create paper pulp from recycled and natural materials. Press your own sheets to later use in works of art!
Papermaking is a great way to recycle old junk mail, paper bags, unused art, and/or scrap papers into its own piece of art. You can use them as backgrounds for new art, display them as standalone artworks, or even bind them into books. Papermaking is especially fun to do as a relaxing practice by yourself or with friends.
Any skill level is welcome, and ALL MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED.

Get ready to unleash your creativity and share your voice with the world! Join Louis Oppenheimer for this 4-part series that takes you from concept to creating your own final podcast!
You can post your final podcast on YouTube, publish audio files on a podcast hosting service (such as Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, or Spotify), or share the podcast episode directly through your website (if you have one).
This 4 week workshop will take you through all the steps, and provide you with all of the equipment you need for a finished podcast!

Here’s what’s in store for you!
WEEK 1 - Survey podcasts
Decide what elements make you want to listen - dramatic build, surprise, humor, people participation.
Introduction to equipment needed for a podcast - recorder, mikes, xlr,stands.
Practice setting up to record and using the microphone.
Determine who the audience is for your podcast.
WEEK 2 - Work on your story idea
Write a 1-2 min script or outline. Think about the introduction, central story and closing to the podcast; what questions do you want to ask? Do you want to use a voiceover? What natural sound and music could you use?
WEEK 3 - Record your podcast!
Learn how to use your microphone to get the best sound. Create smooth audio transitions and edits.
WEEK 4 - Final Touch-ups and Present your Podcast
